The Ross Monitoring app is a comprehensive patient monitoring platform designed to empower individuals in managing their health proactively. The app enables users to track critical health data such as blood pressure (BP), medication schedules, fluid intake, hospitalization records, and ongoing health issues. By providing a user-friendly interface and personalized insights, the app helps patients stay on top of their health routines while offering valuable information to healthcare providers for better decision-making. This seamless integration of health monitoring improves patient engagement, promotes adherence to treatment plans, and enhances overall well-being. Problem Statement

Designing a patient monitoring app like Ross Monitoring comes with unique challenges of providing real-time health data updates, accurate tracking of vital metrics such as blood pressure, medication intake, and fluid levels, while ensuring seamless data access for both patients and healthcare providers. The app must simplify the complex task of managing health records such as hospitalization history and ongoing health issues. Additionally, ensuring timely notifications and offering an intuitive, user-friendly interface is critical to keeping patients engaged and compliant with their health regimens. Addressing these challenges holistically is key to enhancing both patient outcomes and healthcare management efficiency.

Roles & Responsibilities

As the lead UI/UX designer for the Ross Monitoring app, I was responsible for delivering a user-friendly experience that catered to both patients and healthcare providers. I oversaw the entire design process, from research and wireframing to prototyping and final implementation, ensuring the app met all functional and aesthetic requirements. In addition to collaborating closely with developers and medical professionals, I guided and delegated tasks to interns, providing mentorship and feedback throughout their design contributions. I conducted user testing sessions, iterated based on real-world feedback, and ensured that the app was intuitive and accessible, ultimately enhancing patient engagement and health management efficiency.

Phase 1 : Discovery & Research

At the onset of the Ross Monitoring app project, the discovery phase involved identifying the key pain points faced by both patients and healthcare providers in managing chronic health conditions. To gain deep insights, I conducted comprehensive user research, including patient interviews, healthcare professional consultations, and competitive analysis of existing health management tools. This research phase revealed the challenges of tracking multiple health metrics, such as blood pressure, medication schedules, and hospitalization records, in a cohesive and intuitive way. Armed with these insights, I developed user personas, mapped out user journeys, and created a clear design strategy that addressed the specific needs of users while aligning with the goals of the healthcare system. Phase 2 : Design & Iteration

Once the foundational research was completed, I translated insights into wireframes and interactive prototypes, focusing on an intuitive, clean interface that simplified complex health tracking for users. The design phase involved creating a seamless flow between features such as BP monitoring, medication reminders, and health issue tracking, ensuring ease of navigation for both tech-savvy users and those less familiar with digital tools. Tools & Methods

Interview Insights

Through interviews with potential users of the OldMan Seafood platform, I uncovered key insights into their shopping habits and concerns. Many users emphasized the importance of knowing the origin and freshness of the seafood, as well as having clear delivery timeframes. Some users expressed frustration with existing platforms due to complicated navigation and unclear product descriptions, which led to hesitation during the purchase process. Additionally, there was a clear demand for real-time inventory updates to prevent disappointment from unavailable items. These insights were crucial in shaping the design and ensuring the platform addressed these pain points directly.

The primary challenge of designing the Ross Monitoring app was to create a user experience that catered to a diverse group of users, ranging from tech-savvy individuals to older patients with limited technology experience. The app needed to streamline the process of tracking multiple health metrics, such as blood pressure, medication schedules, and fluid intake, without overwhelming the users. The scope involved not only creating an intuitive and accessible interface but also ensuring that the app could adapt to the varied health management needs of patients while simplifying data entry and retrieval. Style Guide & UI Design

The UI design for the project was built around a vibrant yet balanced color palette, ensuring that each hue played a functional role in guiding user attention while maintaining a sense of calm and professionalism. The use of teal (#36B3A6) and soft teal (#96D1CC) as base colors creates a soothing environment, while accents like red (#E34F4D) and yellow (#F2B936) are reserved for actionable items and alerts, ensuring key interactions stand out without overwhelming the user. The Inter font family was chosen for its versatility and readability, offering a modern look across various font weights—from bold headlines to regular body text. This combination of clean typography and thoughtfully applied colors ensures that the interface feels both approachable and efficient, fostering trust and ease of use across the platform.

Final Design

The app is designed to help users manage their health by tracking blood pressure, pulse, and medication schedules. It provides features like a graphical representation of health data for easy tracking and a daily medication list with dosage and timing details to ensure adherence. A calendar view helps users keep track of medication schedules and health records, while timely notifications alert them to important tasks or potential health concerns. The app also includes a simple navigation system, allowing users to easily access home, educational resources, and settings, offering a comprehensive yet user-friendly approach to personal health management.

This comprehensive design ensures that users can manage multiple aspects of their health seamlessly within a single platform.
